Elections – 2025-26 Season

Hello Ski Friends,

We all enjoy the many benefits of the program, getting to ski and board with guests from all of the world and show them the variety of runs, the social network of Ski Friends that have become friends off the hill  and, as we’ve all heard, “Make People Happy”.  This volunteer program needs help to operate 7 days a week during the Ski Season. While many of you have stepped to put your name forward for one of the Board Positions in the past we really hope that some of you put your names forward now so that this board and this organization can continue to function. 

The Board of Directors is made up of 7 Day Directors, the VP Operations, the President-Elect, and the President. Members of the Board of Directors have either been elected or acclaimed to their respective positions. Eligibility for the board includes being a member in good standing  for no less than three continuous years (eligible in the fourth continuous year of membership), with power under law to contract. The Board candidate shall be nominated and seconded by two Full or Life members. Below are the positions currently open for next season ( see by- laws for roles and responsibilities) .  VP -Operations (One year) –  Elected annually. Successful candidate will eventually become President -Elect and then President.  Registrar (Two years)- Richard Link will be vacating this position at the end of this season.  Weekend Day Director (2 Years),Roger Hodges will be stepping down this year.

Voting shall be by ballot. Each ballot shall be sent to the Full or Life Member by electronic means. In the case of a Full or Life member unable to receive e-mail, a ballot shall be mailed to that Member’s last known address as contained in the Association records. The return ballot shall be made by either email or Canada Post to any of the members of the Nominating/Governance Committee. 

Role Description – VP Operations Year 1, President Elect Year 2, President Year 3

Be responsible for monitoring on-hill and off-hill Association activities.  Oversee such roles and committees as may be established by the Board which may include the Training Coordinator, Webmaster, Stores Coordinator, Operations Manual Committee, Awards Coordinator, Area Events Coordinator and Discipline Committee; Report to the Board on relevant matters concerning the Association;  Be an authorized signing authority for financial documents,  Become President-elect of the Association after serving their term, and Support the President in all activities of the Board. Become  President after Serving as President-elect

Role Description – Weekend Day Director (2 Year Term)

Act in the best interests of the Association; Respond to day-to-day issues that arise and bring to the attention of the Board any matter that may affect the operation or reputation of the Association or individual ski friends, including but not limited to any breach of these bylaws or other Association rules or policies; Act as liaison between members of their day and the Board and ensure members have the information, training and support to carry out their duties, and Support the President in all activities of the Board.  

Role Description – Registrar (2 year term)

The Registrar will be appointed by the Board with a simple majority vote for a term of two (2) years starting 01 June and ending on 31 May. The term of office can be mutually renewed by the incumbent and the Board with a simple majority vote; 

Purpose: To ensure an accurate record of past, current and potential Ski Friends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and revise membership renewal forms and renewal process as required;  Ski Friends Policy Manual 
  • Distribute renewal information, fee structure and membership renewal forms with assistance of the webmaster; 
  • Issue reminders, respond to member inquiries and follow up with non-renewed members; 
  • Work with the Treasurer to track e-transfers and deposit cheques where e-transfer is not possible; 
  • Update and maintain the roster with information from the Board, Training Coordinator or Day Directors on renewed members, new members, change of day or those taking LOA; Archive retired members; 
  • Aggregate some statistics at years end for award purposes;
  • Maintain the online membership records and keep them current; 
  • Issue the call to renew yearly membership to all members in good standing at a date to be determined by the Board; Record the LOA status of members who may go on leave; 
  • In conjunction with the Webmaster, ensure each Ski Friend annually updates their emergency contact and member contact information. 
  • Provide the Board and the Lake Louise Ski Resort with an up-to-date list of members in good standing; 
  • Report to the Board on the status of renewal of yearly membership at a date to be determined by the Board,
  • In conjunction with the Statistician, update the Members Service History,
  • Report to the VP Operations on registration matters

Voting will commence: March 21-25, 2025
